Lachlan Colquhoun Lach is the founder and owner of Earthling Designs. Music and music/audio electronics is Lach's life's work - he has been playing guitar and learning about the electronics side of music since he was knee high to a duck. Lach's electronics engineering skills are self-taught and highly honed by years of building, fixing, mod'ing, restoring and most importantly - playing. He has had extensive experiencing (15+ years) working on a large range of equipment from XX to XX.
When not at Earthling Designs, Lach divides his time between performing, composing and educating. He is equally excited about writing works for the concert hall, performing as an electric guitarist or working in the lab that is the recording studio.
Lachlan has a passion for teaching, which has included the tuition of guitar, composition and music theory privately, audio electronics at a tertiary level, and running the composition program at The Scots College. He currently teaches audio electronics at JMC college as part of the XX degree.
As performer he has traversed improvised electro-acoustic settings, jazz combos, readings of contemporary classical works, and as a guitarist in indie bands.
As a composer of modern music, Lachlan has been fortunate to receive commissions and work with Orkest de Ereprijs (Netherlands), Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, world-renown bass clarinetist Harry Sparnaay and various ensembles in Sydney . He has also worked as an arranger for bands providing transcription and score preparation.
